Caring for books, maps, documents, photographs, and artworks on paper in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the Surrounding Midwest Region
Our Services
We offer conservation and preservation services for a wide range of paper-based materials and collections. From basic stabilization to full treatment, and custom archival boxes to staff training and collections surveys, we work with clients to provide practical solutions for the scope and budget level of any project.
Our Work
Conservation treatments often involve a sensitivity and awareness of multiple factors, including historical integrity, aesthetic integrity, and functionality. We strive to achieve the best balance for each object and its intended use. See examples of our work here.
About Us
Conservator Kathy Lechuga is professionally trained in the conservation of paper-based materials. With over a decade of experience working for large library and archival collections, she has performed treatments on many unique, historically important books, documents, photographs, and other artifacts.
Our Process
We believe in transparency and open communication with our clients. Here is a brief summary of our process for conservation treatment:
Consultation & Estimate
We discuss your artifact with you and what your goals are. We then examine your artifact and provide a brief condition report, treatment proposal, and estimate based on your goals. We answer any questions you might have about the condition, proposed treatment, and estimate.
Approval & First Invoice
Once the treatment proposal and estimate are agreed upon, we will issue an invoice for 25% of the estimate to be paid before treatment begins. Once we receive payment, we begin treatment.
Treatment Completed
After we complete treatment, we create a final treatment report with documentation photographs of your artifact before and after treatment, as well as the details of what work was completed and what materials we used on your artifact.
Final Invoice & Return
When treatment is complete, we will issue the final invoice based on the exact time and materials costs. Once final payment is received, we will return your artifact and the documentation of treatment for your records.
